EAMG was invited for a second assessment survey (13th to 17th November 2007) within Mentawai Archipelago. The aim of this second mission for Mr. L. Gerard Saliot, CEO of Euro Asia Management Group, who came together with Mr Pitet Nicolas, Sustainable Development Consultant, was to analyze in situ the project location and to agree on a MoU with all the participants
(stakeholders of the future project) and the government of Mentawai, Bupati Kepulauan Mentawai.
The participants of this one week site survey were the representatives of: Marina Ventures Asia Pacific Ltd; Chairman of Pt.Sekapa; Euro Asia Management Group; Daltona Agencies Pte Ltd; Burchill VDM Pty Limited; Changi Airports International Pte Ltd; Surbana International Consultants Pte Ltd; Ocean Geographic; Skipper Yacht Systems Pte Ltd; Batam Logistics Pte Ltd and Boustead Singapore Ltd.
All the participants during this visit were guided by the governor of Mentawai, Bapak Edison Saleleubaja through Sipora Island, and crossed the island by feet from the west to the east.
The last day, they visited the Sipora Coast by boat to have a better overview of the site potential.
The Memorandum of Understanding between Marina Ventures Asia Pacific Ltd and PT.Sekapa regarding the SIPORA GREEN RESORT CITY was approved by all the participants on the 16th November 2007 and by the Governor of Mentawai.
One of the main recommendations from EAMG was the necessity to undertake, before starting any conceptual master planning design, a large Environmental Impact Assessment on Sipora Island due to its extraordinary biodiversity, sensitive culture and the social leaving condition of Sipora villagers with low economy benefits.
EAMG was also invited to attend a meeting with the Mayor of Padang to discuss about Padang Tourism Development and Padang Tourism Master Planning.
